Introduction

Can you get a good impression of Khao Yai National Park in a day and a half? Yes, you can. This varied tour is successful proof of that.

Khao Yai (which is less than 130 kilometers from Bangkok) is Thailand's first national park. This not only illustrates that 60 years ago the Thai already valued this natural area, they still do. Although it is one of the largest national parks in the country, you have a pretty good chance of seeing wild animals in their natural habitat here. We are talking about elephants, deer and gibbons or other monkeys.

This tour does not include transportation to Khao Yai and back. Also accommodation is not included. Of course we will help you with transportation and a hotel if you like.

Day 1

Khao Yai National Park

This tour starts at 3 p.m. in Khao Yai National Park. That's when our guide will be waiting for you.

Together with your guide, you'll visit a cave temple. Here you will see golden Buddhas next to the stalagmites and stalactites this cave is filled with. We also go to a natural water source, where you can take a refreshing dip.

Just before nightfall, we will drive to a cave where hundreds of thousands of bats fly out in a long black swarm during sunset to hunt for food.

PLEASE NOTE: Wear long trousers and closed shoes today. And don't forget to bring your swimming gear and a towel!

Day 2

Khao Yai National Park

In the morning, explore Khao Yai National Park on a 2-3-hour guided hike. That tour starts at the park rangers' visitor centre. Our guides obviously know the area like the back of their hand. They know where you are most likely to see hornbills, gibbons, macaques, reptiles or elephants. With a bit of luck, you will spot some animals. After this, it's time for an outdoor lunch.

After lunch, we take a look at the Haew Suwat waterfall. This is worthwhile because behind this curtain of water is a cave. There are beautiful vantage points at the top of the waterfall.

Finally, you take the minibus on an extra tour through areas where wild elephants can be seen. Whether you actually see them, you never know; you need a bit of luck.

With hopefully a few stunning photos on your camera, you say goodbye to the guide and end your Khao Yai tour.
