A bicycle tour in Chiang Mai should not be missed during your visit to the Rose of the North. This best-selling tour is suitable for the whole family as the roads are almost car-free. You cycle through traditional villages with wooden houses on stilts, past vast rice fields and stop at a local school. Don't be alarmed if a buffalo crosses the road!

In the morning you will be picked up at your hotel in Chiang Mai. After a short transfer of about 20 minutes to a Thai traditional village, it's time to get on your bike. Cycling through nostalgic villages, past beautiful rice fields and along quiet country roads you will experience the real Thai countryside. In the rice fields they are often hard at work, the guide can tell you everything about the whole process: from sowing, replanting to harvesting.

Chiang Mai is the capital of the former Lanna kingdom and you can certainly still find old Lanna traditions here and there. The first stop is at a beautiful local temple. Note, among other things, the beautiful carvings of the doors! If open, you'll also stop at a local nursery. In between you can enjoy a delicious cup of coffee or a cold soft drink at a traditional woodcarving workshop where people still make the most beautiful sculptures and other works of art entirely by hand.

You will then continue cycling between rice fields and fruit trees across the Thai countryside. If open, you can make a short stop at the local rice threshing factory. Very interesting to study the simple but ingenious technique behind this. Another very special stop is at the wooden pavilions. These wooden pavilions are put over coffins during cremations. You can only see this in this region, as it is deeply intertwined with ancient Lanna traditions. The guide can of course tell you all about this. After this it is time to quietly cycle back to the starting point of the bike tour. Here a delicious lunch awaits you before you are taken back to the hotel.

This bike tour is also ideal for families with children. There are children's bikes available (5-9 years) and also child seats. You cycle about 27 km on mostly flat paved country roads.
